The 32 Arms of Santa Claus

The very versatile artist, Ed Emshweller (AKA Emsh), did a series of Christmas covers for Galaxy SF magazine in the 50s and early 60s. They all feature a four-armed Santa. I wonder if the Santa is a cyborg, mutant, or an alien. My vote is for a Mutant. All that mutative radiation from the magic dust.

Well, four-armed is forewarned, or something. No, but seriously, this helps explain why Santa delivers all those gifts in one night: he’s twice as productive!

  • Rick says:

Yes, four arms must be better than two. Also the way he’s scooting through outer-space, I’m thinking his sleigh must have faster-than-light capabilities.
