But like you mention, both women are tied up at some point in the story. And since the antagonist, Rann, is much more interesting both literally and visually than the love interest, Beudag, I went with her.

I’ve never seen the magazine version – but in the story it is Beudag who is tied to the mast of Rann’s ship. Does the pic have a caption?

“One ship in particular. The flagship. The vision in Starke’s mind rushed toward it, narrowed down to the masthead platform. To the woman who stood there, naked, erect, her body lashed tight with thin cruel cords.

A woman with red hair blowing in the slow wind, and blue eyes that looked straight ahead like a falcon’s, at Crom Dhu.

Beudag.”

Starke does have Rann in chains though later.
